Whitgift is a leading independent day and boarding school for boys, with approximately 1500 pupils including over 100 boarding pupils and flexi boarding pupils. It is set in an attractive 48-acre parkland site in South Croydon enjoying excellent links to London, Surrey and the south coast.

 

During the summer holidays Whitgift runs its own summer school for international students, utilising all its fantastic facilities and modern boarding house. Whitgift Summer School (part of Whitgift Short Courses), with its innovative and exciting English language and academic courses, along with activities which involve English speaking students, is designed to appeal to girls and boys aged 11-17 from all over the world.

 

We are seeking to appoint an Airport Co-ordinator/Administrative Assistant who will work closely with the Marketing Manager, Course Director, and year-round International Education Administrators. The Airport Co-ordinator/Administrative Assistant will be responsible for co-ordinating the airport transfers for arriving and departing students. In addition, they will provide comprehensive administrative assistance across all areas, in the run up to, and during, the Summer School. This is a 6-day a week role, however, in the initial period of employment before the Summer School starts, the Airport Co-ordinator/Administrative Assistant will work 3 days per week.

 

General duties involve being in regular contact with parents and agents answering any queries they may have and co-ordinating the pre-arrival process (e.g. flight arrivals/departures/pre course testing). Managing the airport transfer process over summer, including liaising with drivers and staff to ensure pick-ups/drop offs run smoothly. Assisting key members of staff as necessary such as the Director of Studies, Welfare Manager and Activity Manager. Proactively assisting the admin team with daily tasks.

 

The post holder will also manage the student feedback and report process on a weekly basis and report back to the department managers.

 

The successful applicant will be highly motivated, show a significant degree of initiative, and be able to work efficiently and calmly, even at times of particular pressure. Inter-personal and logistical skills of an especially high order will be required. The post requires a person of a friendly and co-operative nature, with a flexible approach. First-rate written skills and an excellent command of the English language, with a high level of attention to detail, are essential. Candidates must have strong proficiency in IT, particularly with Microsoft Office.
